The reactor has a main tube (16) which opens onto a flow reversing baffle (21). Exhaust gas enters the tube through an injector (19) which entrains secondary combustion air (41). An annular exhaust inlet header (15) is formed below the main tube. The exhaust header can have any number of inlets (15,20) from any number of cylinders. Part of the gas flows from it through the injector tube (19) and part flows through other tubes (18) into the secondary air inlet header (12) upstream of the injector. The air inlet head (12) is a conical chamber inside the annulus of the exhaust inlet header (15). The arrangement gives an improved flow pattern in a small space.
