The electrical contact made from a spring bronze stamping can be used to form a connection with a carrier plate (30) with conductive strips (33) along one face. The stamping consists of a long very narrow strip with a large wing (32) projecting outwards from each side. When bent for assembly, each wing is bent upwards at right angles, and one end (34) is bent into an incomplete loop. The wing has a right angle cut-out (31) to fit around the bottom of the carrier plate, and the plate is gripped between the looped end and the vertical wing. The board can be a printed circuit board and can be part of a liquid crystal or gas discharge display cell.
