PURPOSE:To enhance the colorability and image preservability of a photographic material by adding a yellow coupler having a specified group. CONSTITUTION:A coupler having a group represented by formula I [where X is a divalent org. group; R1 is (substituted) alkyl, (substituted) aryl or a (substituted) heterocyclic residue; and at least one of X and R1 is (substituted) aryl or (substituted) arylene] and forming yellow dye by coupling with the oxidation product of an aromatic primary amine developing agent, e.g., the compound of formula II is allowed to be contained in a silver halide photographic emulsion layer. The amount of the cupler added is about 10-300g/mol of silver halide. |
