Water, vapour and air-tight sheathings are provided in a building with a heat-insulated layered external wall containing a heat-insulating layer comprising hollow spaces filled with air and sheathed. Granular size or dia. of sheathing units is pref. such that no capillary action can arise, however great the packing density, size or dia. is pref. between 5 and 20mm. Sheathings can be made of rubber, glass or plastics and are pref. spherical. Porous carriers (8) for the cavities can be made of cork, clay, plastics or glass.
