The brake adjusting arrangement is intended for a drum brake comprising two brake shoes (1,2) and a pressure rod (4) of which one end (10) engages (11) one shoe (1) whilst the other end (12) bears on the face (6) of a cam (7) rotatable about a pivot (8) on the other (2). The pivot is parallel to the drum axis and engagement at both ends (10,12) of the rod is maintained by a spring (3) between the shoes. Spring (9), adjust the position of the cam. The force (19) exerted by the rod (4) on the cam face (6) acts in a direction which intersects the centre of the pivot (8).
