In extg. antitumor compds. from basidiomycetes, extn. efficiency was improved by heating the cells to 120-200≦̸C with superheated steam under the pressure of 1,8-20kg/cm2. Thus, polyporous versicolor was heated with superheated steam and extd. with 12.5 vols. of hot water. The ext. was dialyzed to give a tumor-inhibiting glycoprotein of mol. wt. >10,000. This glycoprotein showed 94.9% of tumor-inhibiting activity against Sarcoma-180 cancer.
