PURPOSE:To prevent the exfoliation of a polyester film and an emulsion layer at a wet state in development and at a dry state after development by forming an under coat made of polymer contg. specified styrene type units each having one or two OH groups on the surface of the polyester film. CONSTITUTION:A soln. contg. a polymer having repeating units represented by formula I (where R is H or alkyl, X is H, halogen, nitro, cyano, alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylsulfonyl, aryloxy, acyl, acyloxy or acrylamido, m is 0, 1 or 2 and n is 1 or 2) together with gelatin, a gelatin hardening agent, a polyester swelling agent such as phenols, etc. is applied to the surface of a polyester film and dried at 70-120 deg.C to form an under coat. On this under coat an emulsion layer, etc. are laid to manufacture a photographic material. This material has sufficient bonding strength both at a dry state and a wet state, preventing the exfoliation of the polyester film and the emulsion layer. |
