PURPOSE:To manufacture the subject hollow molded article with insert having no hole other than an air inlet port and available as a fuel tank or the like by press- fitting an insert part to the inner wall surface of a thermoplastic resin molten parison, and thereafter clamping the mold and performing by blow-forming. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin molten parison 2 extruded or injected from a die 1 is introduced between metal molds 3 and 7, at least either of which makes horizontal movements independently at its upper part and lower part, and an insert part 4 held by a rod 5 is inserted in the parison 2. Then, the upper metal mold 3 is closed by a clamp operating mechanism 9 of the forming machine the insert part 4 being press-fitted and thermally welded to the inner wall surface of the parison 2. Then, the rod 5 is led out of the metal mold, and thereafter the lower metal mold 7 is closed by the operating mechanism 8, air being blown in the metal mold through the air blow pin 6 which enters the inner part of the metal mold through the seam of the metal mold 7, thereby to obtain a hollow formed article with an insert. |
