1517396 Mobile elevators; grippers MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 2 Oct 1975 [3 Oct 1974] 40440/75 Headings B8L and B8H An apparatus for picking up and transporting a self-propelled fillet welding carriage 9 during construction work comprises a carriage detecting and clamping device 11 suspended by a scissors linkage elevating arrangement 8 from a transversely and longitudinally movable carriage 4 incorporating a mechanism 7 for swivelling the clamping device 11 about its vertical axis. The presence of the carriage 9 below the clamping device 11 is detected by a sensing limit switch within the device. A plurality of carriages 4, each associated with its clamping device 11 and carriage 9 and drivable along overhead longitudinal rails 3 supported between a pair of guides 1 movable along transversely extending rails 2. Power control cables 6, 12, 13 extend from a control station 14 on one of the guides 1 to each of the carriages 4 with its winch mechanism 7, scissors linkage 8, clamping device 11 and carriage 9. As the carriage turns in making welds along the edges of a rectangular box, the device 11 in the unclamped condition turns similarly so that both cables 12, 13 are similarly twisted, both cables being untwisted as the carriage 9 is clamped and lifted into an adjacent rectangular box. |
