1276165 Radiographic films PRECISION X-RAY CO 13 June 1969 30238/69 Heading H5R A periapical X-ray film, e.g. for dental use, enclosed in a disposable film wrapper, is mounted against the support plate 641, Fig. 11, of an X- ray shield and aiming means, by non-metallic band means secured to one face of the film wrapper and arranged to overlie the support plate to maintain registration therewith. The band means may consist of a paper band 36, Fig. 5, having its ends 38 folded and cemented to the film wrapper 34 to form a loop which may be slid over the support plate, the band having an arcuate shaped opening through which a pulltab on the wrapper may project (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown). In the embodiment of Fig. 11, a sheet of paper 701 is secured at its top and side edges to the wrapper to form a pocket which may be slid over the support plate, which has a curved top to facilitate this operation; a central portion of the pocket sheet may have two parallel lines 741 of spaced perforations with a pull-tab 781 at the bottom, the pull-tab 821 on the film wrapper being secured by a spot of cement 841 to the intervening region of the sheet. Alternatively, the film wrapper, which may also contain a lead shielding foil, may have a pair of parallel lines of spaced perforations lying beneath those formed in the pocket sheet, but which extend also down the other side of the film wrapper, and which end in a pull-tab lying directly beneath that formed on the pocket, whereby the two pull-tabs may be simultaneously engaged by the fingers (Figs. 13 and 15, not shown). The support plate 641 is mounted, for introduction into the mouth, at the end of an arm 18 secured to a stainless steel circular shield 10, Fig. 3, which covers the core 12 of an X-ray machine, has a central rectangular aperture equal in width to the support plate, and is provided with a pair of arms (14, Fig. 1, not shown), one of which is held by the patient to maintain the plate in position in the mouth. Arm 18 has an off-set portion 26 to ensure that the plate is axially aligned with the aperture in the shield.
