1276475 Stopping pipes SIEMENS AG 19 April 1971 [13 Feb 1970] 21683/71 Heading F2P A pipe shutting-off device comprises two segmental sealing plates 3, 4 each having a first arcuate edge portion co-operating with the inner surface of the pipe 1 and a second edge portion co-operating with a support 8 which moves in the plane of the plates transversely of the pipe axis. The plates are moved into sealing engagement with the pipe by the downward movement of the frusto-conical support 8, which is held in a frusto-conical seating 12 in a pipe union 2, through which the device parts were introduced into the pipe, by bolts through adjacent flanges 13, 14. The support 8 is located opposite the seating 12 either in a recess 11 or an inwardly projecting bearing. The plates 3, 4 locate in grooves in the pipe 1 and the support 8 and are sealed by soft material sealing strips encircling the plate edges. |
