The fire alarm system is divided into fire alarm sections. Each fire alarm section comprises four pipelines acting as temperature sensors, two pressure monitoring devices (5) and a control device (6) which controls the two pressure monitoring devices. Two pipes (1, 2) are in each case connected to two pressure detectors (32, 32') which are disposed in each pressure monitoring device and which have aneroid boxes (17, 17'). The pressure detectors are disposed in a stable housing (33) whose volume is virtually constant and which serves as a balancing vessel for the aneroid boxes. Two containers (27) made of heat-insulating material each with a heating resistor (28) are disposed in the housing for automatic testing of the operational readiness of the system and are connected via lines (21, 22, 23) with the inside of the pressure detectors (32, 32'). Limit value detectors which are heat sensors are electrically connected to the pipelines (1, 2) in such a way that the pipelines and the limit value detectors form current loops whose condition is in each case evaluated by the control device (6). <IMAGE>
