<p>A tunnelling machine with a cylindrical cutting sleeve which cuts the tunnel to the required diameter as it is rushed forwards, and with a platform in the middle, carrying swinging conveyors operated by rams to convey the cut material rewards has a collar at the rear which can be held in position while the sleeve travels forwards, while wet concrete is applied to the cut surface by a spraying nozzle supported by the platform. In an alternative design, the rear collar supports inside it an inner sleeve forming part of circle, seen in end view, supported by sheeting from the inside platform, from which metal tunnel lining segments can be applied to the concrete lining.</p> |
