<p>The ink composition, which permits indicia to be successfully printed on metal or plastics surfaces even in the presence of lubricating or moisture films, comprises a dye, an epoxy resin binder and a solvent blend consisting of water, lower monohydric alcohol(s), low molecular weight glycol ether(s) such as the cellosolves, and aliphatic ketone(s). The alcohol(s) and ketone(s) possess 1 to 3 and 3 to 8 carbon atoms respectively. Ink jet printing using the composition on food or beverage bottles or cans, or on plastics insulated wire, yields indicia which are resistant to fading, abrasion and attack by hot hydraulic fluid.</p> |
