Transparent body with a variable transparency has at least one layer whose transparency varies as a function of the temp. this layer consisting of a hydrated (co)polymer of an N-vinyllactam having at least 6C atoms per molecule, and at least one layer whose transparency does not vary. Used as windows and roofs for building of all kinds. The body becomes opaque when subjected to solar radiation, and then recovers its transparency when the solar radiation ceases. The (co)polymer of the N-vinyllactam bonds very firmly to silicate glass and plastic materials, and can be easily cut and drilled. Relatively thin layers of the (co)polymer give satisfactory results.
|
