Novel 4-(substituted thiazolyl) -3-hydroxy-3-pyrroline -2,5-diones and processes for preparing them are disclosed. The novel compounds have the structure

n is 0 to 2;m is 0 to 3;R₁, R₂ and R₃ are independently hydrogen, halogen, loweralkyl having 1 to 6 carbons, trifluoromethyl, and loweralkoxy having 1 to 6 carbons or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, with the proviso that the substituents on the thiazolyl ring are not adjacent. They inhibit glycolic acid oxidase and thus are useful in the treatment and prevention of calcium oxalate renal lithiasis.
