Blocked benzotriazole compounds as development restrainer precursors

Benzotriazole compounds employed as development restrainer precursors are described having on one nitrogen atom an alkali-hydrolyzable, N,N-disubstituted carbamoyl group. The compounds may have the following formula: wherein: R1 and R2 each represent a substituted or unsubstituted alicyclic, aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic moiety, or may be taken together with the nitrogen to which they are attached to form a heterocyclic ring; and R3, R4, R5 and R6 each represent hydrogen, nitro, lower alkyl, halogen, carbamoyl, sulfamoyl, RCONH- or RSO2NH-, wherein R is lower alkyl or aryl.
