An electrical receptacle connector (2) has contacts (52) for engaging contact members (90) of a plug connector (4) inserted into an opening (20) in the housing (14) of the receptacle connector (2). In order to enable the receptacle connector (2) to be mounted on a circuit board (10) with an external end wall (36) of the receptacle connector (2) adjacent to the board (10), the contacts (52) have lead portions (58, 59) which are rectangularly bent across an external side wall (30) of the housing (14) so that connecting ends (69) of the contacts (52) project beyond the external end wall (36). |
