1,175,980. Automatic circuit breakers; thermal switches. ELECTRONICS CORP. OF AMERICA. 29 March, 1967 [30 March, 1966], No. 14268/67. Heading H1N. [Also in Division F4] A lock-out switch in a burner control circuit has a bimetallic heater element 84 and contact elements 110, 112 mounted on spring blades 114, 114. Actuator surfaces 118, 120 are mounted on a reciprocable sleeve 128 and on a plunger 126 biased by springs 130, 132 the sleeve carrying a latch member 140 which co-operates with an adjustable latch member 142, mounted on element 84, when the plunger 126 is depressed to set the switch. Current passed through member 84 causes it to warp and release the latch and allow the contacts to be opened under the influence of the biasing springs. A thermal delay switch, Fig. 6, has a heater element 40 comprising a bimetallic element with a wide main portion 96 and a narrow strip 98 which extends downwardly to a flexible link 100 on which is mounted a contact member 102 to co-operate with a second contact (104). Current flowing through the element 40 causes the leg 98 to flex under the greater heating and close the contacts. |
