PURPOSE:To prevent a copper/Al metal compound from being formed in the boundary part between both materials, by joining both materials after forming an Ni layer on the junction interface between the copper material and the Al material. CONSTITUTION:An Ni layer is formed in a part or the whole of junction interfaces of one or both of Al or Al alloy material 1 and copper or copper alloy material 6, and they are rolled, annealed, and so on to join both materials, thus obtaining three- layer clad material 7. If this composite material 7 is the copper-clad Al wire, the method where two copper-Ni composite strings are rolled and press-around the Al wire or one copper-Ni composite string is subjected to seam welding around the Al wire and is pulled out, and so on are adopted. By this method, since forming of a copper-Al alloy layer dependent upon thermal diffusion of junction interfaces is avoided, the use temperature range of the composite material is improved. Further, production of high-strength and heat-proof composite wires is possible. |
