Method for the industrial mass production of lye-treated timber fabrications such as timber lists and boards for wall and ceiling cladding, in which it is possible, by omitting pre-treatment of the timber fabrications through steeping, drying and sanding prior to the application of the alkaline solution, and by actively drying the timber fabrications after application of the alkaline solution and after application of lime solution with subsequent intensive brushing treatment, to control the "rising" of the surface of the timber fabrications, so that the end product emerges as an altogether new product, the timber fabrications taking on a greyish-white, velvety surface texture, together with a plant for performing the method comprising a roller conveyor 2, on which the timber fabrications 4 are conveyed in a continuous line past a first station 10, in which an evenly distributed layer of a liquid alkaline solution is applied to a fabrication surface, then past a first drying section 18 for intensive drying of the timber fabrications 4, to which in a second application station 20 a lime solution is applied, then past a second drying section 20 before finally passing a rotating brush 32 for intensive brushing treatment. <IMAGE>
