The single-control tap is used to mix hot and cold water, and comprises three perforated plates made of a hard material, which can be displaced relative to one another in order to regulate the mixing ratios of hot and cold water, and the overall flow distributed. The first, lower, plate (11) is fixed, and is perforated by two inlet apertures (12,13), the second, intermediate, plate (15) rotates, and is also perforated by at least two through apertures, and the third, upper, plate (18) can be displaced linearly, substantially in the direction which connects the centres of the apertures of the intermediate plate (15), and also has at least two through apertures which cooperate with those of the intermediate plate (15). These arrangements mean that adjusting the mixing, which is obtained by rotating the second plate (15), and adjusting the flow, which is obtained by linear displacement of the third plate (18), can take place substantially independently of one another. <IMAGE>
