PURPOSE:To prepare a long-chain dicarboxylic acid continuously, by using part of the fermentation broth obtained by incubating a specific microorganism in a tank as a culture of the fermentation in the next tank with a plurality of tanks. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism, capable of producing a dicarboxylic acid, and belonging to the genus Candida is incubated in a fermentation tank containing a culture medium of a 10-18C straight chain hydrocarbon, e.g. n-tridecane, as a substrate with aeration. Part (about 10%) of the fermentation broth thus obtained is added to a tank containing another culture medium of said hydrocarbon as a substrate. The operations are carried out on a plurality of tanks to make the continuous production of the dicarboxylic acid possible industrially. Thus, the preparation of a seed broth of the producing microorganism for each tank is not required, and the fear of both the reduction in production ability of the microorganism and the contamination by various germs often seen in preparation step of the seed broth is dissipated. |
