<p>The machine rolls a cylindrical workpiece surface smooth, using a tool comprising a hollow cone and a cage coaxial to and sliding axially in relation to it. Taper rollers slide radially in the cage slots and roll against the cone face towards the cylindrical face of the work. A drive causes cone and work to turn and slide in relation to each other, while a setting device slides the cage in relation to the cone. The cone (6) also rolls an internal cylindrical work surface smooth (4), and its wall thickness is such as to allow distortion beyond the side furthest from this surface (25). A distortion detector (24) acts against the cone face (25), its output being fed to one input of a comparator, whose other input is supplied with an adjustable desired value. The relative sliding movement of cone and cage (9) by the setting device depends on the comparator output signal, until the value from the feeler equals the desired value.</p> |
