A turntable on a continuous-tracked chassis, holding a boom for the cutting arm, is used in conjunction with a lengthways movable support manipulator, and an advance mounting plate. This has brackets to hold the cap of a segment-assembled arched gallery support, on a part cut machine driving galleries in a mine. The advance plate (23,24) has two or more brackets (33) individually fastened to straight vertical guideways. A thrust prop permits their continuous adjustment between a bottom position where the cap can be laid on the brackets, and a top position where a horizontally swivelling head (18) of the fixed manipulator (13) can engage below the cap of the advanced structure (64), with its props (46,47).
