At least one flock-type inorganic insulating material pretreated with binding-agent microcapsules is electrostatically charged by means of at least one flock distributor (4, 5; 4', 5') and, in the form of at least one layer, transferred onto an inner circulation belt (A1), moving over a heating path (6) and serving as conveyor, and, in this arrangement, is reinforced, if appropriate, by a support material (B'). An outer circulation belt (A2) is permitted to run onto the insulating layer or layers (C', C''), which is or are conveyed further by means of the inner circulation belt (A1), before said layer or layers pass through a heated main roll press (7) designed as compacting station. After leaving the main roll press (7), the inner circulation belt (A1) is lifted off the inner surface of the insulating-material layer. The insulating-material layer is then pre-impregnated, dried, reinforced, if appropriate, by a further support material (B) and guided through an auxiliary roll press (8) provided with a circulating press-on belt (A3'). The finished insulating-material web (C) is finally separated from the outer circulation belt (A2) and wound onto a material reel (28). <IMAGE>
