PURPOSE:To dispense with a thermal head in image formation, by superposing an original negative film, a light-heat conversion layer, a thermal transfer ink layer, and a material onto which image are transferred in this order, and applying light through the negative film. CONSTITUTION:An original negative film 4 is superposed on a light-heat conversion layer 1 of a thermal transfer sheet 10 having a corresponding color. An ink layer 3 of the superposed sheet 10 is then superposed on a material onto which images are transferred, and light is applied through the negative film 4 as shown by arrows. The light cannot reach the conversion layer 1 in a black or light-reflecting area (a non-image area) of the film 4, while it acts upon be conversion layer 1 in a transparent area (an image area) to heat said area. The heat reaches the ink layer 3 to soften it, and the softened ink layer 3 is transferred onto the material 5 to form a positive image 6 thereon. The above operation is vepeated on the same material 5 with each color, thus giving an image of three or four colors excellent in resolution and reproducibility. |
