<p>1290308 Aerating and agitating liquids FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO 3 June 1971 [15 June 1970 25 Feb 1971] 18899/71 Heading B1C Apparatus especially for aerating sewage comprises a flexible dome 17 held in tension at its periphery and supported by gas pressure and means beneath the dome to agitate the liquid. As shown the agitator is mechanical and is supported above the liquid, and the tank consists of impervious sheet material 12 supported by a solid backing 11. The gas may be introduced through the dome as shown at 19, or through the lower part of the tank; if it is introduced below the surface it may constitute the sole means of agitation. In another embodiment (see Fig. 4, not shown) the dome is floating and the agitator supported by floats. The impervious sheet material may be a nylon, rayon, cotton, polyester or other fabric coated with neoprene, butyl rubber or a polyurethane elastomer, or may be a heavy elastomeric (e.g. polyethylene) filler.</p> |
