PURPOSE:To simplify the commutating circuit by a method wherein a DC power source for a switch circuit of a gate turning-OFF thyristor and a DC power source for providing gate ON signals to a gate of the gate turning-OFF thyristor are jointly used. CONSTITUTION:A thyristor 10 is conducted by gate signals 100 from a controller 26. A gate turning-ON transistor 16 is conducted by gate signals 200, a gate turning- OFF thyristor (GTO) 12 is conducted by a DC power source 14, and the thyristor 10 is turned OFF by the application of the inverse voltage of a DC power source 14. A gate turning-OFF transistor 22 is conducted by gate signals 300, and the GTO12 is turned OFF by the application of the inverse voltage of a DC power source 24. Thus, since the DC power source 14 is jointly used as a turning-OFF power source for the gate ON signals of the GTO12 and the thyristor 10, a commutating circuit can be simplified. |
