The decompsn. of urea to ammonia on diapers can be inhibited by treating the diapers with a hydroxamic acid such as aceto-, propiono-, butyro-, capro-, heptylo-, octano-, nonylo-, caprino-, undecano-, phenylaceto-, benzo-, salicyclo-, cinnamo-, adipo-, stearo-, and nicotino-, hydroxamic acids and their Al,Zn,Sn,Ca,Na,K and Mg salts.
