<p>The polystyrene or styrene copolymer compsns. contain >=1 org. transition metal cpd. (I) in an amount of >=0.001 pts. wt. pr 100 pts. wt. of resin. (I) may be a transition metal (Fe, Mn, Co, Cu) salt of an org. carbocyclic acid or an org. chelate cpd. of a transition metal. Formates, acetates, stearates, naphthenates are suitable salts of these metals. Used in mfre. of plastics disposable containers which should desirably decompose in the open i.e. in presence of sunlight, as a way of cheaply disposing of otherwise practicably imperishable litter.</p> |
