Low energy radio-active trace counting - using flask combustion and scintillation fluid injection

Equipment for combustion and addition of absorber scintillation fluid to the products of combustion applicable to measurement of count rate from low energy tracers are used in medical diagnosis. A rotary turntable with an assembly of Erlenmeyer flasks is progressively rotated through a timed sequence of operation, involving oxygen filling of the flasks, specimen insertion, flask sealing combustion, and absorber scintillation fluid injection. The products of combustion and the fluid are agitated to promote absorption and the count rate measured by conventional scintillator technique.
