1438443 Growth-promoting composition UPJOHN CO 16 July 1974 (2 Aug 1973] 31346/74 Heading A5B The proteinaceous weight gain of a domestic fowl consuming a diet containing more than 19% by weight of protein is promoted by administering to the fowl from 0.001 to 2 parts by weight per millionparts by weight of the diet of a compound of the formula:- wherein R is C1 to C4 alkyl. The compounds may be administered parenterally, subutaneously or, preferably, with the diet. The diet for male chickens preferably contains more than 25% by weight of protein and that for female chickens contains not more than 23% by weight of protein. The preferred compound of formula I is mibolerone (R = methyl). |
