The food utilisation and growth rate of poultry, fur-bearing animals and livestock are increased by administering a growth-promoting amt. of a 2-arylimino-1, 3-dithietane of formula (I): (where X is halogen, 1-4 C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, SCN, NO2, pyrrolidinylsulphonyl, dithietane, 1-4C alkylthio, 1-4C alkylsulphonyl or COOR (R = 1-4C alkyl); X and Y are H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl or 1-4 C alkoxy, or X and Y together can form methylenedioxy when they are on adjacent C atoms and Z = H). Cpds. (I) can be administered orally, esp. in a feed formulation contg. 0.0001-0.05-wt. % (I), or as a subcutaneous implant providing a daily dose of 0.001-0.2 mg./kg. |
