PURPOSE:To obtain a large-scale fluorescent display with a relatively simple structure by arranging a display panel in which a collector electrode and a coated fluorescent substance are enclosed and a control panel which controls the electrons hitting on the collector electrode at the rear of the display panel. CONSTITUTION:A display panel 1 has a mesh-shaped collector electrode 3 on the surface of a substrate 2 and is filled with fluorescent material 5 in the mesh. A number of filaments 6 are formed at the upper part of the substrate in parallel to the substrate and the space 8 covered by a cover glass 8 is sealed airtightly. On the other hand, a control panel 11 has a control electrode 12 on an insulating plate 13 so as to be opposed to the pattern in which the fluorescent material 5 of the display panel is filled. The control panel 11 is mounted so that the control electrode 12 can be positioned between the rear of the display panel 1 and the collector electrode mesh 3. This can economically obtain a large-scale fluorescent display. |
