<p>1294891 Pattern recognition NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 3 Feb 1970 [18 March 1969] 14239/69 Heading G4R An arrangement for recognizing an input two - dimensional pattern includes first and second logarithmic scale transformation means for forming independent first and second logged functions relating to different parts of the input pattern, or of an autocorrelation function of it, in which each dimensional axis is transformed to a logarithmic scale, first and second autocorrelation means supplied with the first and second logged functions respectively and cross-correlation means supplied with both, the outputs of these two autocorrelation means and the cross-correlation means feeding comparative recognition means. The "different parts" referred to are different quadrants, and the logging transforms a point with coordinates (x, y) to the point (log x, log y). Other details may be as in Specification 1,237,534 which is referred to. A weighting compensation process for improved discrimination (in the recognition means) is performed on each of the three inputs to the comparative recognition means and the results are added to give a number characteristic of the input pattern and invariant under changes in pattern width and height (independently) and, if the first autocorrelation is used, position of the input pattern.</p> |
