A vehicle jack has two support members (12, 13) pivotted together by a pin (14). A base foot (25) rotates freely on one of the support members and a vehicle engaging portion (22) is formed on the other. The jack includes a spindle (15) operated by a cranking handle. The spindle has opposite threaded portions (16, 17) which engage in captive bushes (18, 20). The foot includes a stop (28) to give correct positioning and a member (29) for preventing noise when the jack is folded by engaging with a slot (23).
