NEW MATERIAL:DC-38-V, and antitumorigenic agent, having the structural formula of the formula. Melting point: 254+ or -2 deg.C (decomp.); elemental analysis: H: 5.23%, C; 65.69%; infrared absorption spectrum (KBr): Figure (1); Molecular weight: 494 (determined through mas spectroscopy); molecular formula: C27H26O9; specific rotatory power: [alpha]D<20>=-246 deg.+ or -10 deg. (C=0.5 in dimethyl sulfoxide); Solubility: easily soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylformamide and so on, insoluble in water and petroleum ether. USE:Carcinostatic agent and remedy for infectious diseases: it has antibacterial activity against various kinds of bacteria. PREPARATION:A microorganism, which belongs to Streptomyces and can produce DC-38-V, e.g., Streptomyces golvotanareus O-7 (FERM-4649) or Streptomyces griseologilbus 4916 (FERM-4648), is cultured in a medium to accumulate DC-38-V, which is collected. |
