PURPOSE:To polish and lubricate efficiently the image holding material surface to make it possible to form a good-quality electrophotographic picture for a long time, by bringing an abrasive layer and a lubricant layer, which are provided on both faces of a wave-form substance respectively, into contact with the image holding material surface above successively and by pressing them. CONSTITUTION:Abrasive layer 3 consisting of 100pts.wt. abrasive (cerium oxide, silicon oxide, and so on of particle diameter about 0.01-20mu) and approxiamtely about 1-50pts.wt. dispersing resin (for example, polyvinyl alcohol) is provided on one face of wave-form substance 2, and lubricant layer 4 consisting of 100pts.wt. lubricant (polyethylene, talc, and so on of primary particle diameter <=20mu) and approximately 1-50pts.wt. dispersing resin is provided on the other face, thereby forming lubircating and polishing material 1. Next, material 1 above took up from axis 5 to supply roll 9 is used, and abrasive layer 3 is first pressed to the surface of image holding material 11 by compression roller 6, and lubricant layer 4 is next pressed to the surface of material 11 by compression roller 7 after the surface and the reverse face are inverted by rollers 8 and 8, thus polishing and lubricating the surface of material 11 is one process. |
