1300026 Boring bar CROSS EUROPAWERK GmbH 8 July 1971 [4 Nov 1970] 32080/71 Heading B3C A boring bar assembly comprises a hollow driven spindle 4, Fig. 2, having an eccentric bore 8, a boring bar 9 mounted in the bore by bearings 24, 25, means 13 for rotating the boring bar in the bore so as to vary its eccentricity, elastically deformable surfaces 24a, 25a, on the bearing chambers 24c, 25c, for an incompressible fluid, and means 29, 30 for adjusting the pressure of the fluid so that the boring bar is clamped or is released to allow rotation of the bar so to vary its eccentricity. Spindle 4 is rotated in a housing 2 by an electric motor 50, Fig.1, which drives a belt and pulley 40, 3. Means 13, Fig. 2, for adjusting the eccentricity of bar 9 comprises a nut 14 fixed to the bar, and a non- rotatable steep pitched screw 15 movable axially by an hydraulic cylinder 22, Fig. 1. The incompressible fluid, e.g. grease, is supplied in a closed circuit to chambers 24c, 25c, through channels 27, 28, and the pressure applied by the fluid is varied by adjusting screwed plugs 29, 30. It is also possible to supply pressure medium from outside via chambers 34, and a stuffing box 35. |
