<p>A cylindrical mechanism is arranged so that it can be moved axially in and out of a cylindrical borehole through a fruit, and be rotated relatively to the fruit. The core knife is fixed to the plunger unit and can be turned by it, whilst it can be moved also between a first posn. in which the knife is located within the circumference of the plunger, and a second posn. in which the knife projects outside the plunger. A lever linkage moves the knife from one posn. to the other dependent upon the posn. of the plunger. The knife extends along an axial groove in the plunger, and it has a cutting edge in the form of a segment of a sphere. It has an axial breadth equal to about one half of the dia. of the core, and its driving mechanism operates as the plunger moves forward relatively to the apple to be treated. Used for the removal of the core of an apple, which is already peeled and bore through, completely without handwork.</p> |
