The preparation of novel somatostatin derivatives of the formula I <IMAGE> in which X, Y, Z, R<1> and B have the meanings given in Patent Claim 1, is described. The process is based on the synthesis methods customary in peptide chemistry. These compounds inhibit GH secretion and are therefore used in diabetes mellitus, in the treatment of acromegaly and angiopathy, as well as for diagnostic purposes.
