The printing press inking mechanism has a distribution roller working on the one side with a feed roller and on the other with two dividing rollers delivering the ink to separate roller trains. A variable-speed drive (15,16) is provided for the dividing roller (8) nearest to the feed roller (5) on the distribution roller (6) in the ink travel direction. The design allows the distribution of the ink to be varied while the press is working.
