The paint spray booth incorporates an air flow, which passes through it at high speed, to move paint particles and solvents away from the area of the operator. The bottle is divided into two or more sections in a longitudinal direction, each having an individually controlled air inlet unit. The air emerges from these units at different speed, so that the booth section, through which the air passes, is screened from the neighbouring sections. The booth has sensors in all sections. Dependent upon the presence of one operator in a section the sensors actuate associated valves, so that the air flows through one section only. The valves are switched via an independent control system. For drying purposes, air may be passed simultaneously through all booth sections.
