<p>Appts. for recycling fines carried in the outlet gas of a fluidised bed reactor (e.g. vapour phase polymerisation of ethylene) consists of a cyclone separator, a compressor and a suction accelerator (I). The solids in the carrier gas are sepd. in the cyclone, are sucked into (I), mixed with fresh catalyst and are recycled into the reactor. (I) consists of a tapering annulus with an adjustable opening, a mixing chamber and a diffusor. Propellant gas passes through the annulus at a high velocity and the resulting low press. sucks in the solids from the cyclone. The amount of propellant gas is controlled to maintain a circulating fluid bed at the top of the reactor. The gas from the cyclone is recompressed, mixed with fresh gas and sent back to the reactor.</p> |
