The regenerative heat exchanger has a rotor with a circular body driven about an axis in a housing, with portions of its periphery permanently protruding into adjacent parallel passages for first and second media flowing in opposite directions, and separated by a partition at the level of the rotor axis forming a sealed passage for the rotor. The rotor (2) comprises one or more closed circular discs (12), its axis of rotation (3) being at right angles to the flow directions of the two media (6,7), while the disc surfaces are parallel to these directions. Its direction of rotation is such that in each passage it moves against the flow direction, and its mean peripheral speed at the surfaces passing through the media is such that heat transfer is virtually solely determined by the heat transfer to these surfaces.
|
