PURPOSE:To obtain the titled thick and thin yarn, capable of giving a knitted or woven fabric having the hand of a spun yarn without causing cohesion between filaments, by dyeing a nonuniformly drawn filament yarn having a change in cross- sectional area in the axial direction, and a double refraction of the thick and thin parts in a specific range under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:A nonuniformly drawn polyester filament yarn having varied cross- sectional areas, thick undrawn parts, preferably of double refraction 0.015-0.08, thin drawn parts, preferably of double refraction 0.09-0.2, and a U% of 2-20, preferably 4-16, is dyed at 130-140 deg.C by means of a benzoic acid carrier to give the objective uniformly dyed thick and thin yarn having a coefficient of variation in FYL value in the long direction of 0.8% or less. The nonuniformly drawn polyester yarn has preferably 100 fluffs or less per 2,000m. |
