The mast mounting device is intended for masts with a journal-pin foot. This pin (2) is conventionally linked to the mast by a length of rubber (5). The pin fits into a bore (10) of a clamping device screwed into the board, enlarged (12) to accommodate a collar (22) at the pin top end. The sides of this enlarged portion are formed by flexible tongues (13-16), cylindrical in section, but arranged to have an elliptical combined outline. A locking-ring (18) with a similarly contoured, slightly conical bore (19) fits around the tongues.
