<p>Modification to a seal for the upper zone of a bush in the crank case of an i.c. piston engine, provides an annular recess either in the end face of the flange of the bush or in the face of the counterbore, between the two faces of which a slit is formed, the recess having a vol. one to three times that of the slit. The silicone rubber or other material capable of preventing corrosion and forming a seal, is applied in the recess in the barrel of the bush beneath the flange. As the bush is pressed in, the sealing material forms a thin coating between the bush and the housing whilst the surplus flows into the slit and the new recess.</p> |
