<p>Additives are added in a container of material dissolving in melt, the container being formed as a sheet metal barrel (2) and used in an evacuated state. On charging esp. finely-divided additive to a metal melt, the additive is vacuum-packed, without binder, in the metal barrel as container. The additives include alloy additives, fluxes and casting auxiliaries. No air is present between additive material particles. On dissolving the barrel, the melt is sucked in between particles Contact of melt and additive is quick and intimate. Dust-free additive can be introduced into melt without risk of sputtering by air.</p> |
